One of the most profound, and often painful, impacts of an unresolved mother wound is how it affects our own children. Patterns repeat when they remain unconscious. A parent who didn’t feel fully loved by their mother may struggle to be present, patient, or emotionally available for their kids, unintentionally passing down the same wounds.

Being emotionally unavailable to your children, due to your mother wound.

This cycle can look like perfectionism, harsh criticism, emotional distance, or enmeshment. But when we commit to healing our relationship with our own mother, or at least the imprint it left within us, we can break the chain.

Example: Sophia always swore she’d never be like her cold, critical mother. But after her second child was born, she caught herself using the same harsh words with her daughter that once crushed her spirit.

Through inner work, Sophia is learning to mother herself first, and by doing so, she’s becoming the warm, loving parent she always wished for.

When we heal, we become the parent we always needed, for ourselves and for our children. In doing so, we give the next generation the greatest gift, the freedom to thrive in love.
